Live by Faith in This Cursed World

“For my angel shall go before you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will completely destroy them.”

It is imperative that we look closely at this situation. God brought them into this land called Canaan. First, we must understand Canaan. In Genesis 9 we find the story of Noah, one of God’s great servants. After He had obeyed God and the Ark came to rest, Noah and his family settled. The Bible records that one of Noah’s sons, Ham, saw his nakedness. There is a lot of discussion on what exactly happened, but it is not relevant to our discussion today. What is important is that when Noah was old He blessed Shem with the blessing of the Lord. He blessed Japheth to live with Shem and serve him. But, he cursed Ham’s son Canaan because of what Ham did. So all of these people that lived in Canaan were cursed. Some where different clans that broke off from Canaan, but all the people from that area where referred to as Canaanites and they were cursed as the land was cursed.

God brought them in among cursed people that walked in the curse. People ask me all the time when it is going to get better in the world? We live in a place that is cursed because the people are cursed. Every day there is tribulation all around us. School shootings, people being senselessly killed on the roads, murders, rapes and every darkness that’s imaginable. You see, when people walk away from God, His blessing cannot come upon us any more. We start walking in the curse. It’s nothing new. Obedience brings blessing and disobedience brings curses. It is not going to get any better, but there is an answer in all this chaos. His name is Jesus.

If we will serve the Lord, no matter what we live in or the people we live among, He has made us 4 promises: 1. Our bread and water will be blessed. In other words no matter how high gas prices go or no matter how much the economy tanks, He will never forsake the righteous and we will never beg for bread. 2. He will take sickness from the midst of us. He is still a healing God and no matter what the enemy brings on us, we can still be saved, delivered and healed. 3. There will be no miscarry or barren in the land. If you cannot conceive for whatever reason, please grab onto this promise. If you will believe in the Lord and trust Him, your faith will bring upon you the promise of God and you will bring forth life. My wife and I have prayed for a lot of couples who could not conceive and told them to trust in God’s Word. We have seen many babies come forth through people’s faith. What the enemy meant for harm God turned into a blessing. 4. He will fulfill the number of your days. This means you don’t have to be sick and diseased before God brings you home. We have the God given blessing to be healed and then just fall asleep when He’s ready for us. How can one’s last years be fulfilled if they can’t do what their heart chooses to do?

No matter what happens around us, if we will obey the Lord and serve Him, we can receive all of His promises through faith in His Word. So there you have it! He put them in the middle of it so they could learn to walk by faith. That’s right! He led them in the desert for 40 years but there would come a time when He would send them in. He would still be there with them but only if they had the faith to believe in Him. That is where we are today. So stand up in faith and receive His promise into your life. He is just waiting for someone to have faith so He can release His blessing unto them. I pray that the blessing would be yours today. I pray that right in the middle of the circumstance, God would show up today and dispossess the Canaanites from your situation. Receive the promise of the Lord, right now, by faith. God is good all the time, and that includes today. I receive His blessing. What about you?
